Across the classrooms of the Conejo Valley can be found a new generation of painters, photographers and artists of all types, and the talent, as the community so pleasantly learned last week, is excellent. The local student art scene paints a pretty picture, to say the least. On April 10, the Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council and the Westlake Village Art Guild announced their 2025 Greater Conejo Valley Student Art Show awards for high-schoolers.

Construction crews this week began placing the first layers of soil on top of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing in Agoura Hills, a critical juncture in construction of the 200-by-175-foot-wide bridge that began in 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2026. Sitting atop 10 lanes of the 101 Freeway at Liberty Canyon will be almost 1 acre of native wildlife habitat, comprising coastal sage and other plants native to the Santa Monica Mountains.
