In New Orleans, we often wrap ourselves in the pride of the old: Old traditions, old recipes, old songs, old stories our mammas told us, and old buildings. We love old buildings. But how old is old in our ole city? Perhaps the oldest remaining structure built since the city’s founding in 1718 is Fort St. Juan, or Spanish Fort. It sits on a spit of land nestled between Bayou St. John and the leafy Lake Vista subdivision.
