Christmas was a particularly special time for the family. "Every Christmas, our relatives visited from Melbourne," says Joan. "It was a riotous time, with everyone preparing food – and Annie was in the thick of it all, enjoying having everyone home for Christmas Day."After-school visits to Grandma Daffey's home were always a treat for Joan.
