Later at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came to affirm the power of Jesus to his disciples, the Spirit appeared as ‘tongues of fire’ which very much echoed the words of Jesus when he said “I am the Light of the world.” We may light a many different flames, but all light is one - the same light that God created "in the beginning." For Christians, the whole of creation still lives within that one light.

Earlier this year, John Pickering was awarded funding from Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Kickstarter Grant. The project “Rural Resilience in a Post-Pandemic Landscape: Exploring Social Isolation, Loneliness, and Healthcare Access Among Older Adults on Northern Vancouver Island” aims to address critical aspects of life for older adults in rural settings, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
