    Cabrini’s 64th and final commencement ceremony is right around the corner, and before students receive their degrees on Sunday, May 19, we now know they will be addressed by alumnae Kylie McDevitt Kelce and Dr. Rachel Slaughter. Kelce will speak at the 9:30 a.m. undergraduate ceremony and Slaughter will speak to all graduate students at 1 p.m.Kelce has been making headlines across the country as she has made herself a houshold name in the Philadelphia area.

    In any graduating class, there are some individuals who will always be remembered. Whether it’s the class clown, the best athlete, or the student body president, these are the people who become hot topics at class reunions decades after walking across the stage. Near the top of that list is the valedictorian, the title for the highest performing student of a graduating class. Many students devote their entire academic career to work for this illustrious title.

    Throughout the first month of the semester, there’s been a new crowd around campus. Seen checking out classrooms and buildings, these individuals are representatives from Villanova touring with members of Cabrini’s facilities staff. In early February, faculty and staff members were alerted that a three-person team from the Space Management Group, representing Villanova University, would be inspecting the entirety of Cabrini’s campus.

    Over winter break, students were faced with the decision to transfer or remain at Cabrini. Many students are heavily involved on campus, through athletics, clubs, or other campus organizations and don’t want to abandon those commitments. Dominic Petruzzelli, a sophomore math and secondary education major, transferred to Neumann University during winter break. Several important factors played into his decision to leave Cabrini.

    On November 7, an open mic night, usually a popular event, was supposed to happen in The Grill. This event was hosted by Cavalier Radio and nobody signed up to attend, and the event was an absolute bust. There were many emails sent to students and posters advertising the event. Students saw these, and still stayed away.Cabrini University has a rich history of on-campus events. However, over the years, because of a decrease in the student population, attendance at campus events have plummeted.
