    4th quarter statisticsThe number of crimes investigated by Belleville Police in the fourth quarter of last year was a little lower than in the same period in 2023. A report to the Belleville Police Service Board shows a total of 1,155 crimes in the last 3 months of ’24, 10 percent fewer than the year before. There were no murder or attempted murder charges in the 4th quarter however there were 110 assault investigations and 41 sexual offences.

    Belleville police are searching for a man after a scary domestic assault Tuesday morning in the city’s east end. Officers responded at around 7:30 a.m. after a 9 year-old girl ran from a residence over to a neighbour asking that police be called. Yelling could be heard from a residence and a woman told police her partner had pushed her to the ground, punched her in the face, and tried to choke her. She was not seriously injured and is being helped by Victim’s Services.
