Quinte West City Council has approved a name for the industrial park at Venture Valley Drive and Carrying Place Road. The name of the park will be Venture Drive Industrial Park. In a report to council, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism, Linda Lisle, and Economic Development Officer, Elizabeth Edwards, say removing “Valley” helps shorten the name which in turn will be more conducive for opportunities to market and promote the industrial park.

Centre Hastings OPP have issued an arrest warrant in connection with a serious assault. Police responded to the incident on Wellington Street in Centre Hastings just before 7 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a seriously injured male who was taken to hospital by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics. A second man was also taken to hospital as a precaution. A third person reported that the man had earlier taken their phone while brandishing a knife.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested an individual wanted on outstanding charges as well as a second person. On , 2025, members of the Peterborough County/Northumberland CSCU executed a warrant at a residence in Bridgenorth where they had been made aware that a wanted person had been hiding.

4th quarter statisticsThe number of crimes investigated by Belleville Police in the fourth quarter of last year was a little lower than in the same period in 2023. A report to the Belleville Police Service Board shows a total of 1,155 crimes in the last 3 months of ’24, 10 percent fewer than the year before. There were no murder or attempted murder charges in the 4th quarter however there were 110 assault investigations and 41 sexual offences.

Belleville police are searching for a man after a scary domestic assault Tuesday morning in the city’s east end. Officers responded at around 7:30 a.m. after a 9 year-old girl ran from a residence over to a neighbour asking that police be called. Yelling could be heard from a residence and a woman told police her partner had pushed her to the ground, punched her in the face, and tried to choke her. She was not seriously injured and is being helped by Victim’s Services.
