    Quinte West City Council approved the Tourism Development Fund Grant Policy at its meeting on Wednesday. As part of the recommendation, the Director of Community Services and Strategic Partnerships will be delegated the authority to approve additional grant applications as recommended by the Tourism Development Grant Committee.

    Quinte West City Council approved a recommendation to award grants from the Tourism Development Fund to two fishing events set to take place this summer. The recommendation was approved at council’s meeting on Wednesday. Grants include $10,000 for the Major League Fishing (MLF)/Quinte Cup event set to take place from August 22 to 24, 2025, and $3,500 for BaitFuel Fishing Tour set to take place from June 27 to 29, 2025. MLF will be have its event take place at Centennial Park at the boat launch.

    Staff at the City of Quinte West will be putting together a report looking at a request by Hospice Quinte to have its fees associated with the expansion of the Stan Klemencic Care Centre waived. These fees would include permit fees, development charges and any other application fees related to the project. The decision was made following a delegation by Hospice Quinte at a council meeting on Wednesday.

    More musical acts have been announced for the Peterborough Musicfest scheduled to begin on June 28. Back in May, the festival announced Serena Ryder, Kim Mitchell, Sloan, Steven Page, Gob, and The Celtic Tenors among others. Since then, musical acts from the pop, rock and country genres were announced. This includes The Jim Cuddy Band, Preston Pablo, The Spades & The Weber Brothers, and Jess Moskaluke.     Downtown at Dusk returns to Downtown Belleville this Friday to celebrate the summer solstice. This annual festival transforms Front Street (Victoria Ave to Bridge Street East) into a lively pedestrian promenade filled with live music, artisan vendors, delicious food, street performers, and salsa dancing. This year’s event will feature performances by Moon Sugar, Remedy, and Ed’s Garage, with Kobbler Jay wowing crowds with street performances throughout the evening.
