Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images I still can’t believe they did it. “The Dagger.” One of those few plays in Philadelphia sports history defined by the broadcaster, in this case Fox’s Kevin Burkhardt, who called it, Jalen Hurts’ deep bomb to DeVonta Smith in the third quarter of the Eagles’ eventual 40-22 victory over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 is etched in NFL lore forever.

Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images J.T. Realmuto’s leg kick has always driven me crazy. One of the reasons the Phillies’ long-time catcher has been one of the streakier hitters in the lineup is due in large part to a leg kick that, depending on its timing, makes him red-hot or ice-cold. There is rarely an in-between, and on the whole, the leg kick has been better for him more than it’s hurt. So far this season, Realmuto has struggled at the plate.

Photo by Geneva Heffernan/MLB Photos via Getty Images The Phillies are legitimately red-hot. After finishing off a four-game sweep of the pathetic Rockies in Colorado Thursday, the Phils are winners of seven straight, have the best record in the NL (32-18), lead the NL East by two games over the Mets and 7.5 over Atlanta.

Photo by Heather Barry/Getty Images Only one pitcher in Major League Baseball, Houston’s Bryan Abreu (21.0) has pitched more postseason innings than Jose Alvarado (20.0) since 2022. During this three-year playoff run, no reliever has been more important or instrumental to the success the Phillies have had over the last three Octobers. This season, he has been their greatest late-inning weapon, the reliever in whom manager Rob Thomson has had the most trust, sometimes to the point of overuse.

NEW HITTIN' SEASON! @JeffKerrCBS joins the show to chat about the #Phillies #Cardinals series, Aaron Nola, Jesus Luzardo and Pete Rose. Powered by @whyy! https://t.co/jW6hFmaJs1

RT @JeffKerrCBS: The #Eagles are the first Super Bowl champion in #NFL history to not play consecutive home games in the next season.

That was the most frustrating loss of the year. Really disappointing to waste a 5 run 1st. Nola has to be better.
