Police say that one person is dead following an accident that involved four vehicles early Sunday morning. The crash happened at I-10 West and Don Haskins, just before Joe Battle. Police tell us that a white Chevy Malibu and a Silver Honda Accord were traveling west when they came upon a Freightliner and trailer that were stopped in the emergency lane. The drivers of the Malibu and the Accord both tried to merge into the same lane causing a collision.

Three UTEP athletes attempted to further the Olympic hopes today. Niesha Burgher competed in the Women's 200 meter, while Sean Bailey and Jevaughn Powell both competed in the Me's 400M. All three are competing for Jamaica. Both Burgher and Powell qualified. Burgher placing second with a time of 22.54 and Powell finishing 3rd with a time of 45.12Bailey placed 5th and did not qualify. The men's 400-meter semifinals are Tuesday and the women's 200 is tomorrow.

A Sunday morning wreck left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Police tell us that an elderly male died at the scene. The crash took place on the 11800 Block of Pueblo Lindo.
