Landon Duckworth accounted for four scores to lead No. 1 Jackson past Region 1 rival St. Michael 49-28 in the Class 4A semifinals at Legion Field on Friday night. The win sends the Aggies (13-1) into Friday’s state championship game against Cherokee County (13-1) at Birmingham’s Protective Stadium. With a win, Jackson can earn its first state title since 2011. Kingston Preyear tossed a pair of touchdowns to lead Class 5A No. 1-ranked Montgomery Catholic to a 43-0 victory over Citronelle on Friday night in the second round of the 5A playoffs at Memorial Stadium in Citronelle. Preyear, a freshman, completed 9-of-12 passes for a 155 yards and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Michael Sheffield as the Knights built a 22-0 halftime lead. Preyear also connected with Jamarion Williams for a 34-yard score.

Sawyer Wilson and EJ King combined for four rushing touchdowns as Class 6A, No. 9-ranked Spanish Fort outlasted visiting Benjamin Russell 49-35 in the first round of the playoffs Friday night. Wilson ran for 181 yards on 13 carries, including scoring on runs of 67 and 4 yards.

Montgomery 42-21 in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs Thursday night. Taaffe scored on runs of 1 yard, 2 and 18 yards for the Rebels (6-5). MGM quarterback Shondell Harris scored on runs of 1 yard and 34 yards and tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Devin Pettway but the Vikings (9-2) fell behind 28-7 and never caught up.

The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season at 6-4 and are 5-3 in region play. Baldwin County dropped to 1-9 overall and 1-7 in Region 1.
