    One of the stranger moments of my career was reviewing a game, giving it a four-page review and a well-deserved score of 89 percent in the then-massively-selling UK PC Gamer magazine, and then the game not coming out for another eight months. That was just one example of the nightmares Psychonauts—Double Fine’s magnum opus—went through on its path to becoming one of the most beloved games of all time. It’s now 20 years since its official U.S. release, and that deserves celebration.

    I love being able to come to you with something completely and utterly gorgeous, uplifting, and entertaining. The Beekeeper’s Picnic, a Sherlock Holmes point-and-click adventure, gives us a few hours in the post-retirement life of the great detective, and the opportunity to shape his relationship with an elderly Watson. It’s an uplifting, gentle tale, packed with superbly informed references to Arthur Conan Doyle’s fiction, delivered with a bucolic charm.

    Nintendo has officially announced the date for U.S. pre-orders of the Switch 2, after a last-minute delay following the tariff turmoil of the last few weeks. While most of the rest of the world has been adding the console to their shopping baskets, North America has been unable to after Nintendo hit pause in the wake of President Trump’s deranged attempts to influence international trade.
