It feels cheap, sluggish and often tedious, while often devoid of Woo's trademark kinetic visuals and outrageous stunt work.

Introduction A couple of years ago, Eureka went all in on Joseph Kuo’s filmography with the Cinematic Vengeance boxset, collecting eight of his films, going all Deadly Masters and Fearless Shaolin. Personally, I found it to be something of a mixed bag, but sixties and seventies kung fu isn’t exactly my bag.

Introduction I have never chosen to watch a Chuck Norris movie. He is in one of the Expendables flicks, but I can’t recall which one, and I didn’t buy it for Chuck Norris anyway. For most of my life, I thought that I watched a Delta Force movie regularly on VHS, but I just checked IMDB, and it turns out that it was an even more obscure title, Megaforce, with no Chuck Norris.

Introduction I had to go online to search just how many Korean martial arts there are. Last time I saw an Angela Mao movie, it was Hapkido, in which Angela Mao, Carter Wong, and Sammo Hung attempted to proliferate the titular Korean martial art against the dictates of the Japanese occupation. It didn’t end well for Sammo Hung’s character, who didn’t survive till the end credits.

Introduction What’s the difference between Burma and Cambodia? It depends on whether you’re watching the subtitled version of A Queen’s Ransom, or the English dub. Given the subject matter of this film, you can speculate as to why Eureka waited until 2024 to release it. A couple of years ago, it might have been in poor taste. After all, it is about a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II, during a state visit to Hong Kong back in the mid-seventies.
