Terra and Fortune International Group formed a partnership to acquire the former Silver Sands Beach Resort in Key Biscayne, where they plan to develop a 56-condominium ultra-luxury, boutique-branded community. The $205 million paid for the former resort is the highest amount paid for any property in Key Biscayne, according to the developers. Construction of the project, located at 301 Ocean Drive, is expected to begin late next year.

Housing starts plunged in March, coming in well below an already low consensus estimate. Overall new-home construction, which includes single-family and multifamily units, fell 11.4% from February’s downwardly revised measurement to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,324,000 units, the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said. Year over year, the rate was up 1.9%. The consensus estimate was for an annual rate of 1,410,000 units.
