Blue Orchid Thai Kitchen recently debuted at 10516 Las Vegas Blvd. South, near Cactus Avenue. The restaurant comes courtesy of the family that opened the first Pin Kaow Thai Restaurant 25 years ago in Las Vegas. “The inspiration for our Blue Orchid menu was re-creating classic family recipes with a modern style — marrying old-school flavor and new-school trends,” executive chef Steve Piamchuntar said. The menu mingles northern and southern Thai dishes.

The drinking party has begun. Nomikai, a sushi counter, sushi restaurant and speakeasy, is now open at The Venetian. Pisces replaces what was supposed to have been Fiola Mare, which Michelin-starred chef Fabio Trabocchi bailed on in January. About a month later, Wynn announced plans for Pisces, a return to its longtime (and successful) practice of creating concepts in-house. Executive chef Martin Heierling leads the kitchen.

Doberman Drawing Room, the downtown Las Vegas spot blending cocktail culture, private club choosiness and the spirit of a 19th century salon, has announced its opening date. The bar is planned to debut April 30 at 1025 S. First St., Suite 100. Doberman styles itself as a place “for the sharp and curious, a den for the city’s secret savants,” and true to that ethos, the wild membership application asks questions like what songs are playing when you wake up in hell or heaven.
