The crowdfunding began after images of the dilapidated school building surfaced on social media on Monday. The images showed the building with obvious cracks and supported by wooden braces to prevent it from falling, while the windows, roof and doors were damaged.

Barely two months after the Ogun State Government sealed a factory, Quantum Steel Industry, in the Ogijo area of the state following an explosion that left seven employees critically injured, another employee has lost his life in an industrial accident. PUNCH Metro learnt on Tuesday that the incident occurred last Monday when the employee, identified as Abayomi, a forklift operator, got stuck in the scrap grinding machine.

One of the 14 occupants trapped in the collapsed two-storey building along Obafemi Awolowo Road, Ota-Ona, in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State has been confirmed dead. The building, which caved in on Tuesday, initially left 14 people trapped. As of the time of filing this report, 10 had been rescued, while three others remain unaccounted for.

Residents of Ipokia in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State have decried the deplorable state of the ICT building located in the community secondary school. Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, the residents lamented that the building which was once a learning centre for students in the community, has now become a home for reptiles. Images of the building shared with our correspondent showed damaged ceilings and windows while the paintings on the wall have faded.
