We spend a third of our lives asleep but how much do you really know about the science of sleep? First, let’s look at the sleep cycle. In the first stage, breathing slows and muscles relax. After about 20 minutes, it moves to stage two where the muscles paralyze and we see a drop in the body temperature.

With any storm, there are so many things to think about but I want to explain medical considerations. The first thing to consider is our inability to access your outside records. Outlying hospitals and pharmacies are affected by the same power outages or computer problems and we often can't reach them.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — May is Older Americans Month. In Acadiana, people are living longer. We have solid research on five traits leading to a 15% longer lifespan. This represents the age distribution in 2020 compared to the previous 20 years, as 2020 shows a clear increase in those 55 to 85. In fact, 30% more compared to 2010 and 50% more than 2000. Also, we are seeing 50% more people living well into their 100s. So, where are they?
