Two Washington-based banks have earned spots on a prestigious national ranking. Find out where they placed and what metrics were used to evaluate them. Two Washington-based financial institutions are on the newly released Forbes 2025 ranking of America's Best Banks. Banner Bank was No. 27, and Columbia Bank was No. 79. Both are community banks that were on Forbes' list of the nation's top 100 in 2024 as well, though last year it was Columbia subsidiary Umpqua Bank that was named to the list.

The company will shutter the majority of its locations in the Puget Sound area. Nearly 100 people will be laid off as Advance Auto Parts (NYSE: AAP) shuts down nine stores in the Seattle area early next year, part of a major retrenchment by the North Carolina-based chain. Stores at these locations are closing, according to a Washington Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed by the company and released by the state on Friday:The closings will cost 100 jobs in all.
