BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Softball teams from Lancaster, Orchard Park, Williamsville South, Fredonia, Chautauqua Lake, and Forestville have won Section VI championships. Section VI champions will host opponents from the Rochester area in regional playoff games this week. Sub-regionals in Class AAA and B are Wednesday at Frontier, where Far West Regional games in Class C and D will be held Friday. The rest of the regionals are Saturday at Grand Island.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Baseball teams from Niagara Falls, Williamsville East, Amherst, Medina, Gowanda and Franklinville qualified for the NYSPHSAA tournament by winning Section VI championships. Trevor Meidenbauer pitched a one-hitter and Dominic Puleo knocked in the go-ahead runs as Niagara Falls beat Lancaster 5-2 in Class AAA to claim its first sectional title since the school opened in 2000.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Orchard Park in Class A, Lake Shore/Silver Creek in Class B, Hamburg in Class C, and Akron in Class D have won Section VI championships in boys lacrosse. Penn State recruit Luke Danna tallied 11 points (two goals, nine assists), freshman Oliver Cromwell scored five goals, and Joe Campian put four in the net as Orchard Park routed Niagara Falls/Lew-Port 22-7 for it’s 29th sectional title in 35 years.
