For the first time since 2019, the Ripon High School Tiger boys’ tennis team defeated the Sheboygan Falls Falcons. Ripon edged its conference foe 4-3 last week Tuesday at home. This comes after dropping the last four duals against the Falcons either 0-7 or 1-6. The teams did not play in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Tigers entered the Sheboygan Falls’ competition 5-3 on the season after dropping two of three duals during a home triangular a few days earlier.

The Ripon High School Tiger softball team brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh inning, but couldn’t finish off the comeback as it lost to the Xavier Hawks 6-4 in a non-conference road game last week Friday. Ripon fell behind 6-1 after three innings, before mounting its rally in the final half inning. The Tigers collected four of their seven hits in the last frame, which included doubles from Sasha Lovell, Jocelyn Baker and Lily Kwakkel.

“Dancing on the Stars” took place Saturday during Ripon High School’s annual junior prom. A grand march in the Ripon High School auditorium kicked off the festivities at 4 p.m., with the event moving to Ripon College’s Great Hall for the dance at 8 p.m.

After playing a competitive game with Waupun earlier in the week, the Ripon High School Tiger girls’ soccer team reverted back to early-season habits Thursday in a 5-0 road loss to Oshkosh North. “Overall this game was not our best effort of the season, but these games happen,” Ripon head coach Matt Smallish said. “It’s a great teaching tool this week to have a fight on our hands in the earlier game of the week and then have a game where we were kind of flat in our energy.

While the weather outside was frightful, the Ripon High School Tiger track and fields team turned in some delightful performances last week Friday at Kewaskum’s Jerry Gosa Memorial Invitational. Ripon placed third on the girls’ side and seventh for the boys out of 14 schools. The girls were just six points back of runner-up Campbellsport and 22 points off the pace of winner Xavier, which finished with 104 points.
