The Ripon High School Tiger baseball team hung with the Laconia Spartans Monday afternoon, but was unable to overcome seven walks and two errors as it dropped a non-conference road game 6-2 at William N. Taylor Park. Three of the six runs the Tigers allowed were unearned and two came as a result of bases-loaded walks. Laconia also did a good job of playing small ball as it had a sacrifice bunt and two sacrifice flies to help generate runs.

Adrian Granados could not have asked for a much better start to the season for his Ripon High School Tiger boys’ tennis team as it defeated both Waupun and Wayland Academy 6-1 during a home triangular. “The players worked through the first two weeks in all sorts of difficult weather conditions, whether it was cold, rain or wind,” the Ripon head coach said. “Our dedication to improve and prepare every single day set us up for success.

The Ripon High School Tiger golf team began the East Central Conference Farewell Tour last week Tuesday at Lake Breeze Golf Club, finishing tied with Kewaskum for sixth-place with a 38-over-par 182. Board members and staff from the Green Lake Area Animal Shelter gathered last week Wednesday to honor shelter manager Janine Rubeck for her 20 years of service. Twelve people were on hand to present Rubeck with a plaque commemorating her two decades at the shelter. “On March 29, 2005, I walked in the front door as shelter manager for the first time,” Rubeck wrote in a Facebook message.
