    Former South Dakota football offensive lineman Joey Lombard has signed a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, Lombard announced via social media. Lombard started 48 games in his USD career.     After shutting out Washington 4-0 in the state championship game, receiving their championship medals, and posing for pictures, there was only one more thing that needed to be done for the Jefferson softball team. Senior pitcher Whitney Portner, alongside a couple of her teammates, rushed to the SDHSAA tournament bracket to smash their logo onto the state champion's section of the board.     All she wanted was a hit. Washington had runners at second and third with two out in the top of the seventh inning against Harrisburg in the softball state semifinal, with the game tied at six. Warriors senior Claire Woods, who was hitless through 13.2 innings in the tournament, was at the plate with a shot at the state championship on the line.
