    Mercedes has begun life after Lewis Hamilton by putting in place what it claims is a ‘groundbreaking’ Formula 1 deal with German sportswear brand Adidas. It is Adidas’s first official entry into Formula 1 as a sponsor, with its logos and branding having previously appeared as part of minor arrangements with drivers like Michael Schumacher and teams such as Footwork and Larrousse (below) in the 1990s.

    After the spectacularly close fight at the front of Formula 1 over the second half of last year, teams and fans are gearing themselves up for an even tighter battle in 2025. With so little separating race-winners Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes at times, there should be every reason to believe that the fight for title glory is going to resume in a similar fashion.
