Today, the Israeli government will begin hosting a two-day conference on antisemitism. Ironically the affair has begun to fall apart over charges too many people attending it are antisemites. This week’s conference is headed by Israel’s Diaspora Ministry, which is headed by Amichai Chikli (Likud). The conference titled “International Conference on Combating Antisemitism” is a culmination of Israel’s “Diaspora week”, but it is really meant to garner further support for Israel’s racist policies.

Israel has renewed its pummeling of Gaza, having killed well over 400 Palestinians in a matter of hours. This marks a definitive end to a ceasefire which Israel had kept violating. Israel had closed off all of Gaza two weeks ago in violation of the ceasefire agreement, ostensibly because Hamas refused to accept Israel’s unilateral changes to the agreement. Israel’s demands would have delayed its withdrawal from Gaza and postponed the cessation of hostilities, or possible long-term truce.

On Sunday, a 27-year-old Jewish man in Miami Beach named Mordechai Brafman, shot 17 rounds at a father and his son, Yarin and Ari Rabi because he believed “they were Palestinian.” Brafman’s social media profile seems to indicate an interest in Jewish vigilante groups and he thought he had killed them but they were only wounded. And it turned out that the two were actually Israeli tourists.
