The FA Cup third round win was another proud day for our Academy with James McAtee scoring a hat-trick and Nico O’Reilly also netting his first senior goal for the Blues. Divin Mubama, who had previously appeared for the EDS scored on his debut, with Jeremy Doku also scoring twice and Jack Grealish on target. Guardiola made nine charges to his starting line-up as he gave some rest to some of his regular first-team starters from this season including Haaland, who remained on the bench.

But Guardiola has faced Salford boss Karl Robinson before when he was in charge of Oxford and his side gave City two tough ties in the Carabao Cup in 2018 and the following year. The City boss, who has lived in Salford since taking over at the Etihad in 2016, says Robinson’s team play with high intensity and that the Blues need to be ready for the challenge.
