THE League of Ireland received the second lowest amount from UEFA’s Club Benefits Programme. UEFA has distributed a record €233million to clubs to compensate them for their players being away with European national teams for competitions they organise. Under the deal agreed between UEFA and the European Club Association, clubs received an equal share for each player released for international duty, as well as a fixed amount per player per day during the final tournament.
