Fire temporarily closes Popeyes at Exchange

A fire has temporarily closed the Popeyes located in the Exchange’s food court. The incident took place at approximately 10:30 p.m. March 24, according to Sheila Enderle, general manager for the Redstone Arsenal and Columbus Exchange. There were no injuries. Enderle praised the efforts of Redstone’s Fire Department, which contained the fire quickly, saving the facility from any damage, and said it’s the first time a fire has taken place in the Exchange’s food court.

The leader of Army Futures Command opened with some advice about predicting the future before giving updates on the current role of Army Futures Command and saying at least one aspect of war is unchanging. “I always try to encourage people that if you’re trying to figure out the future, you know, nobody is going to get it right; it’s don’t be really wrong,” Gen. James Rainey, commander of Army Futures Command, said.

I don’t subscribe to diagnosing yourself based on videos that are force-fed to you by an algorithm but considering the current cost of health care, I get it. But I did watch one video the other day that really made me wonder – not if I have some undiagnosed disorder, I’m sure I have a few, but it made me wonder about what else I may have been doing wrong for my entire life. Apparently, there’s a “correct” way one can hold a pen or there is the way I hold a pen.
Traffic increase may lead to retiming of traffic lights

The Garrison’s Directorate of Public Works is studying the new traffic patterns on post, which has increased since federal employees were told to return to the office. This could lead to adjusting some of the timing on the Arsenal’s traffic signals. “As the volume of traffic continues to increase across the Arsenal, we in DPW fully realize that some of our traffic signals across post need to be adjusted,” Joey Skinner, the director of public works, said.

On April 2, the Family Advocacy Program, which is part of Army Community Service, will launch a lunch and learn series designed to aid parents as they navigate the complex world of raising children. The programs run from April 2 until Oct. 29, 11 a.m. to noon and are hosted on Microsoft Teams. The first class is “Spectrum, Support, & Synergy! – Understanding of Autism and its Dynamics.” The guest speaker will be Dr. Anna DiNoto.

Can you believe it’s been five years since COVID? It’s also been five years since that portion of U.S. 231 collapsed after some flooding. That made some folk’s commute cumbersome. Of course, shortly thereafter, everybody – well everybody else– was at home in lockdown. I bring that up because I recently managed to catch a bug and spent a few days keeping my germs at the house. It’s the polite thing to do. If someone else kept their germs at their house, I wouldn’t have found myself in that predicament.

I’m sure you’re familiar with what’s been dubbed “The Trolly Problem.”If not, it’s usually presented like this. Pretend you’re driving a trolly, and down the line, you’ll encounter five people tied to one set of tracks and one person tied to another set of tracks. It’s then your job to decide who survives and who gets run over by the trolly. Most of the time, there are levels to this thought experiment. It will start out with all of the people tied to the tracks being strangers.

I was standing in the middle of my kitchen – probably just thinking about manly things – while I was trying to twist the top off the bottle of my favorite fizzy water. I do love my fizzy water. I mean, what’s not to love? It has zero calories, fun bubbles and a subtle hint of flavor. Subtlety is underrated. If that top was a lump of coal, I’m sure I would’ve turned it into a diamond with the amount of pressure I was putting on it.

I recently had one of those Leonardo-DiCaprio-watching-TV meme moments. You know, the one where it’s a photo of DiCaprio jumping out of a chair and pointing at what we’re left to assume is a TV? Forgive me; I’ve never actually seen the movie where the clip originated. But, what’s going on right now, the conversations that have dominated my dinner table, my social events, and the talk around the office. I’ve seen this before.
