German asset manager Ampega has adopted a new front-office solution from SimCorp in a bid to streamline its system landscape and reduced the total cost of ownership. The €180 billion asset manage will use the technology to manage its investment portfolios and funds, order and execution, compliance, post-trade processing, market risk and front-office data. The implementation was executed in phases, ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting ongoing business.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has resolved an outage with its pan-European settlement system T2S, which caused commotion across the securities services industry throughout Thursday. The T2S operated said the incident had been caused due to a hardware component. The ECB closed communication channels with network service providers at 10:06 but reopened them at 18:20 CET. As a result, the delivery-versus-payment cut-off has been postponed by six hours from 16:00 to 22:00.

The UK T+1 Accelerated Settlement Task Force (AST) has published its implementation plan for the UK’s transition from T+2 to T+1 securities settlement. The plan includes a Code of Conduct for market participants, which confirms 11 October 2027 will be the first trading date in UK cash equities for settlement on a T+1 cycle – in line with the European Union and Switzerland. Within the blueprint is a clearly defined scope, 12 critical operational actions and 26 highly recommended actions.

The UK’s Accelerated Settlement Taskforce (AST) is recommending that the UK moves to the T+1 settlement cycle for securities on 11 October 2027 in line with its European counterparts. Despite the UK being the first to tout the date for transition, the EU and Switzerland both confirmed the date in recent months, with the UK – as expected – now mirroring the day which the shortened settlement cycle will come into force.
