Cadillac is going electric SUV crazy. GM’s luxury arm introduced the mid-size Lyriq SUVa few years back (though it came with some Ultium-platform-related teething problems) and then went quiet for what felt like forever. That old era is way over now, as Cadillac just introduced the massively wonderful Escalade IQ and the kinda compact Optiq we’re about to dive into. The three-row, seven-passenger Vistiq and ultra-luxe $300,000-plus Celestiq should both be on the road by the end of 2025.

Crazy heavyBraking distance needs workThere’s a new Escalade in town, and its massive bulk is only bested by its colossal spirit. Tipping our scales at 9,134 pounds, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is not only the heaviest passenger vehicle we’ve ever tested, but it’s unapologetically larger than life, unabashedly electric, and unquestionably American. Cadillac recently launched its luxury juggernaut electric SUV, the Escalade IQ, in San Francisco, California. Yours truly was called upon to attend said launch, and, hey, guess what? I live in Los Angeles. Guess what 2.0? Cadillac is claiming the hulking EV has a 460-mile range. Depending on how you go, S.F. is about 400 miles from L.A. You thinking what I’m thinking? Road trip! A road trip where we could find out if the Escalade IQ could make the trip on a single charge?

The extremely online car fan set will surely need no introduction to Mansory, the German outfit best known for festooning exotic cars with garish body kits, flamboyant interior makeovers and cheesy wheel upgrades. To everyone else, just Google "Mansory" followed by your favorite supercar or luxury SUV. We apologize in advance. Anyway, though Mansory's projects tend to inspire unanimous revulsion amongst our seasoned staff of auto hacks, its latest somehow split our number.

Here’s the top of my Twitter feed. Kevin McCarthy, Matt Gaetz (🤮), Bobert, and Blackburn. I follow none of them. Great work, Musk. https://t.co/JqFnkZiBQM
