Sport There was plenty of Waterford interest in this year's Lory Meagher Cup Final as Brickey Rangers man Aidan Organ faced off against Ballinameela's Liam O'Brien. Organ represented New York while O'Brien represented Cavan in the decider at Croke Park. Despite the best efforts of O'Brien who contributed 1-7 for Cavan, it was New York who won out on the day - Organ coming off the bench to score 0-1 as New York prevailed on a 4-17 to w-17 scoreline.

Planning permission is currently being sought from Waterford City and County Council to add additional capacity to a Dungarvan hotel. The Park Hotel Dungarvan currently offers 86 bedrooms and 15 self-catering holiday homes that can equip up to 5 adults. In an application submitted to the local authority on May 27th, Meladon Limited has sought permission for the addition of an extra 21 bedrooms and associated service rooms along with associated works and services.

Sport Waterford minor hurling manager James O'Connor believes his players are still only operating at 70% - despite having reached the All-Ireland Semi-Finals. Waterford saw off Limerick 1-18 to 1-14 at Semple Stadium yesterday to book their place in the last four, and they will now face Kilkenny next time out. The Deise have won four games this season - beating Limerick twice, as well as seeing off Tipperary and Clare. They lost to Cork in both the group phase and the Munster Final.

Tomorrow's Munster Senior Camogie Championship Final between Cork and Waterford has been cancelled, less than 16 hours before the game was set to throw-in. The build-up to the game has been marred by controversy as players across the country to continue to voice their frustrations and protest in relation to rules enforcing that they wear a 'skort' as opposed to shorts - a matter which 83% of 650 inter-county players said they would prefer the choice of in a recent survey by the GPA.

Tributes have poured in following the passing of renowned Waterford hurling coach Peter Power, who died this morning. Power, of Inchindrisla, Kilgobnet, Dungarvan, Waterford was a much-loved and widely revered man across the county, and was part of the county management team that delivered the 1992 Under-21 All Ireland Hurling Championship title, alongside the late Tony Mansfield and De La Salle’s Joey Carton.
