A woman accused of murdering a man in an alleged domestic violence incident in Logan has faced court. Skye Fantasia Sampson, 32, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday after she was charged with the murder of the 72-year-old man in Browns Plains. A woman has been seriously injured when she was allegedly thrown to the ground by a man during an argument before a children’s dance competition on the Gold Coast. The woman, her son and granddaughter parked at Elanora State School on Saturday morning for the girl’s competition when the woman accidentally damaged a vehicle while opening her car door. The 43-year-old man in the other car allegedly demanded an immediate $50 payment for the damage.

An award-winning doctor has described the shock and embarrassment of ending up on the floor of Brisbane Airport due to the actions of a “dismissive” Virgin Australia staff member. A City of Gold Coast councillor is assisting police following the death of his stepfather, 7NEWS understands. Police were called to a home in Arundel over reports of a fight on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency services found councillor Ryan Bayldon-Lumsden’s stepfather unconscious and despite the work of paramedics, he could not be revived. It is understood Bayldon-Lumsden is now assisting police with their investigation.

A woman spent two-and-a-half months in hospital due to critical injuries from being dragged under a car for 30m in a hit-and-run on the Gold Coast. The driver, Liam Jay Summers, could soon be released from jail after being granted immediate parole eligibility at his sentencing in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The 62-year-old woman’s horrific injuries from the incident on Marine Pde in Southport on September 7 last year were laid bare in court.
