    SDSU opened Summit League play with a sweep over Kansas City last Friday and Saturday. Game One (SDSU15, KC0)A shutout of the Roos set the tone for the three-game series. Abby Gentry opened the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single. An Alli Boyle RBI and Emma Vike’s two RBI double quickly made it a 4-0 game. SDSU added four more runs in the fourth inning, then capped it off with an eight-run effort in the sixth, ending the game on the run-ahead rule.

    After losing 11 in a row, South Dakota State softball picked up a win to conclude the Shocker Invitational in Wichita, Kansas. Game 1 – Oklahoma StateA rematch with the Cowgirls fared slightly better for the Jacks but still ended in a 3-2 loss. Emma Vike opened the scoring with a two-RBI single in the second inning, but the Cowgirls immediately responded at their next at-bat with a home run. They scored again in the fifth with an RBI double and in the sixth with another homer.

    South Dakota State softball saw its losing streak continue after dropping three games in the Michelle Short & Adam Brown Tournament in Conway, Arkansas. Game 1 – Central ArkansasThe Sugar Bears beat SDSU 8-0 in their first shutout loss of the season. Addi Graham opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. The Sugar Bears added two more runs in the inning before being kept scoreless until the fourth with a Kyl Griffin single.

    The first basketball event for South Dakota State inside the new First Bank & Trust Arena ended in a Jackrabbit victory. In an exhibition match against the St. Cloud State Huskies, the Jackrabbits played a mostly dominant game. After a slow start on scoring, SDSU quickly jumped out to a large double-digit lead that they would keep for the entire game, winning 77-44. Two of the five freshmen, Katie Vasecka and Jaidyn Dunn, would score their first points as Jackrabbits.

    South Dakota State split their last two games of the regular season at Fishback Soccer Park and now shift their focus to the Summit League Women’s Soccer Championship. DenverFor the first time all season, SDSU was outshot by their opponent. The Pioneers put up ten shots in the first half against the Jacks five. None connected going into halftime. It wasn’t until the 65th minute that Pioneer Liv Moritz scored.
