1. IntroductionThe reception process of the Second Vatican Council has the whole Church as its subject. It encompasses a wider reality than simply the actions of bishops. The Pastoral Orientations (POs), promulgated periodically between 1968 and 1985 by the Episcopal Conference of Chile, constitutes a first phase within this reception process in Chile1.
