A narcotics investigation in Des Moines on Thursday night ended with at least one officer firing shots at a suspect, who later died. Investigators from the Des Moines Police Department's Narcotics Section requested assistance in stopping an "involved person" in the 1200 Block of Maury Street on the city's southeast side, according to a release from the department.

The Des Moines Police Department said a shooting that killed two people Monday in the Lower Beaver neighborhood was an apparent murder-suicide. The police identified the two as 15-year-old Tee Reh and 24-year-old Ne Reh, according to a news release Thursday. The two were not related but were friends, police spokesperson Sgt. First responders were dispatched to the scene at around 6 p.m., said Capt. Ryan Evans, spokesperson with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Multiple fire departments including in Polk City, Grimes, Johnston, and Ankeny assisted in putting out the fire, he said. All of the boats were unoccupied and there were no injuries, Evans said.
