Sens. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell, both of Kentucky, have expressed concern over the potential economic fallout from President Trump's tariffs. The senators' concerns stem from the fact that tariffs often lead to higher prices for consumers and can harm businesses by reducing demand for American-made products. While some argue that tariffs will bring manufacturing back to the United States, experts say this is unlikely to happen in the short term, if at all.

The Kentucky Capitol renovation project will include adding women's restrooms outside the House and Senate chambers, addressing a longstanding disparity in restroom access for women legislators. Currently, women legislators have to walk significantly farther than their male counterparts to access restrooms, sometimes causing them to miss votes. The renovation, estimated to cost $300 million, will also improve restroom accessibility for people with disabilities.

In the "personal news" department, this morning I let my colleagues know that I'm leaving The Washington Post. I'm retiring from my longtime journalistic home but not from journalism, and I'll keep you posted as I decide what my next chapter will be.
