The family of Torrance Sambo say they remain committed to uncovering the truth behind the 26-year-old's disappearance off the coast of Cairns, more than three years after police called off the official search. Mr Sambo was last seen on 16 October, 2021, while on a spear fishing trip to Sudbury Reef with a work colleague. Police reported Mr Sambo became separated from his companion during the dive and failed to return to the boat.

An Aboriginal-led study aiming to reduce injury rates and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children has received a $5 million National Health Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grant. The research, led by Flinders University, will focus on children aged 0 to 16 years who are disproportionately affected by injury, which remains the leading cause of death and third leading cause of disease burden for children in Australia.

Gamilaroi artist Mitch Tambo is travelling across the country with his I AM ME schools tour, using music, storytelling and culture to inspire young people and encourage self-belief. The tour has seen Mr Tambo visit schools, youth hubs and learning centres nationwide, creating safe spaces for students to reflect on identity, resilience and healing. Mr Tambo told National Indigenous Times the tour was born out of a desire to give back and remain connected to young people.
