US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner Hester Peirce and the SEC’s Crypto Task Force recently underscored the new administration’s commitment to engage with digital asset market participants in the near term. Commissioner Peirce issued a statement titled “There Must Be Some Way Out of Here” calling for public input on more than 50 questions with the goal of understanding how to better regulate crypto assets.

The DUP, known locally in the North of Ireland as the Dumb Unionist Party, had made strategic error after error. Firstly, in being an enthusiastic supporter of Brexit, when most in the North of Ireland were opposed to it, especially the young. Secondly, in swallowing Johnson’s promise of “no border in the Irish Sea”, which he enthusiastically sold to them as part of his over ready Brexit, which all can now see never defrosted in the middle.

Earlier this year, the Breakthrough and Left Unity parties and the People’s Alliance of the Left decided to come together and try to construct such a party. We felt that there had been enough talk, both from those still inside Labour and those outside, about building an opposition from the Left to Starmerite Labour. With this view in mind, we set up two working groups, one dealing with our core principles and the other with the constitution.

If the leadership of any business or function — small or large — is not leading by example, then the organisation can build a tendency to mirror that behaviour and become dysfunctional.
