    VINELAND — Residents of Maple Avenue and nearby areas finally had the public meeting with housing developer Rushin Gandhi they had wanted since last summer. Gandhi bought about 10 acres on the 2300 block of Maple Avenue in December 2023 with intent to build 18 single-family homes, a figure recently revised to 15 homes. But even this smaller-scale proposal was stymied at a contentious planning board hearing Wednesday night.

    VINELAND — City government has its elected leaders in place for 2025, and the lineup should be largely familiar. Vineland’s mayor and city council members were sworn in Tuesday night to four-year terms, and the mood in council chambers was even more celebratory than usual for a post-election reorganization. Mayor Anthony R. Fanucci starts his third term, something no predecessor has managed. And that record is on top of having served on the council, including a term as its president.

    Willingboro has officially returned command of its police force to a full-time police chief, a position last occupied in 1994. Capt. Ian Bucs was sworn in as chief at the township council reorganization meeting Tuesday night. The move was partly a promotion and partly a title change, since aside from his captaincy Bucs also had held the position of public safety director since Dec. 1, 2021.

    WESTAMPTON TWP. — Township committee officials added two newly elected members at their annual reorganization meeting Jan. 2, also naming their 2025 leadership before selecting new management. Committee members select the mayor and deputy mayor at their reorganization meetings, and members voted unanimously to give Mayor Sandy Henley another term. Committeeman Odise Carr was unanimously voted deputy mayor, replacing Committeewoman Jaime Mungo.
