DEXTER, MI - Saline girls basketball faced Dexter on Friday, Jan. 10. Dexter won the game, 55-30. Dexter now leads the SEC- Red with the win over Saline. Dexter’s Alena Blumberg led her team with 12 points. Saline’s Kadyn Maida led her team with seven points before leaving the game late in the fourth quarter with an injury. Next game: Dexter will play on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Temperance Bedford. Tip-off time is set for 5:30pm. Saline will host Ann Arbor Pioneer on Tuesday at 7:00pm.

FENTON, MI - Fenton girls basketball faced Flint Kearsley on Tuesday night, Jan. 7. The Tigers defeated the Hornets 51-44. Fenton’s Kiersten Rutley led the team in scoring with 11 points, followed by Madison Eltringham, who scored 10. Kearsley’s Amya Johnson led all scorers with 17 points, complimented by Claire Carley, who scored seven. Fenton plays Linden next at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10 at Linden High School. Kearsley hosts Holly at 5:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 10.

ANN ARBOR, MI - Dexter played Pioneer in a boys ice hockey matchup at Vets Ice Arena on Wednesday night. The final score was 7-4 in favor of Dexter. Pioneer led through the first period scoring 3 of their 4 team goals in the period. Dexter was able to score 3 goals in the third period to break the 4-4 tie in the final 5 minutes of the game. Dexter head coach Kenny Grundy awarded Dexter forward Jeremy Schroeder the game chain for his performance in the game.

North Farmington Holiday Extravaganza: Goodrich vs Skyline boys basketball

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI - Ann Arbor Skyline defeated Flint Goodrich High School in boys basketball 73-59. The game was held at North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills as part of the North Farmington Holiday Extravaganza. Forty high schools participated in the eighth annual North Farmington Holiday Extravaganza held Friday Dec. 27 -Sunday, Dec. 29. Ann Arbor Skyline’s Jake Rademacher led the game with 25 total points, scoring four three-pointers.
Demolition of long-blighted city buildings in Ann Arbor in full swing

ANN ARBOR, MI — Major demolition work is underway at a long-blighted city site on the west edge of downtown Ann Arbor. City officials have talked for many years about tearing down the deteriorating buildings across from the Ann Arbor YMCA at 415 W. Washington St. and now it’s happening — a significant milestone as the city aims to put the property to new use. A city-hired demolition crew reduced structures at the back of the site to rubble in recent weeks.

ANN ARBOR, MI - Huron High School dominated in a cross town rivalry game at Pioneer High School, winning 65-40. In such an important conference matchup, the crowds and cheer teams were incredibly loud, competing with one another in support of their teams. Pioneer will travel to Kentwood, just south of Grand Rapids, on Thursday Dec. 19th to face East Kentwood at 7:00pm. Ann Arbor Huron will play Saturday at Clarkston High School in Independence Township against Grand Rapids Northview.

ANN ARBOR, MI - Wisconsin men’s ice hockey visited the Michigan Wolverines for a two game series on Friday Dec. 13 and Saturday Dec. 14, 2024. Michigan won game two 3 - 2 in overtime. Garrett Schifsky scored Michigan’s second goal of the game at 19:32 into the second period. Michigan’s Michael Hage secured the win with a goal in overtime.
