CHARLESTOWN — New Albany rallied from an early five-run deficit for a 7-6 win at Charlestown on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates plated five runs in the bottom of the first frame to take the early lead. The Bulldogs responded with four in the second before taking the lead with two more in the third. Charlestown answered with one in the home half of the third to knot it up at 6-all. It remained that way until New Albany scored once in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory.

NORTH VERNON — Visiting Jeffersonville swept Jennings County 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 in a Hoosier Hills Conference match Saturday afternoon. Anthony Ganchuluun (15) and Joel Ramirez (13) combined for 28 kills to lead the Red Devils’ attack while Jordan Rodgers dished out 33 assists. Ganchuluun and Ramirez also had three service aces apiece.

NORTH VERNON — Led by medalist Blaine Beckort, Providence took home the team title in the Jennings County Invitational on Saturday. The senior shot a 1-under-par 70 at St. Anne’s Golf Course to pace the Pioneers, who carded a collective 317 — 11 shots ahead of the host Panthers. BORDEN — Juniors Emma Hart and Lilly Torres combined for a one-hitter in host Borden’s 14-2 five-inning triumph over Shoals in high school softball action Friday night. Hart kept the Jug Rox hitless while striking out 10 over four frames.
