    SCOTTSBURG — Kenneth Hughbanks, former sheriff of Scott County and apparent friend of former Clark County sheriff and convicted criminal Jamey Noel, had his initial court hearing Tuesday in Scott Circuit Court in Scottsburg. Hughbanks is charged with one count of tax evasion, a Level 6 felony.     CHARLESTOWN — New Albany rallied from an early five-run deficit for a 7-6 win at Charlestown on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates plated five runs in the bottom of the first frame to take the early lead. The Bulldogs responded with four in the second before taking the lead with two more in the third. Charlestown answered with one in the home half of the third to knot it up at 6-all. It remained that way until New Albany scored once in the top of the seventh to pull out the victory.

    NORTH VERNON — Visiting Jeffersonville swept Jennings County 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 in a Hoosier Hills Conference match Saturday afternoon.
