    Welcome to new bike gear silly season: the time of year preceding the Tour de France when, seemingly all at once, the entire bike industry launches its latest new stuff. Today's episode comes courtesy of British bike brand Ribble, hot on the heels of SRAM Force, SRAM Rival, Cervelo's new Aspero-5, and a host of others in the past week. Something tells me we're only just getting started, too.

    We're well and truly into the busy period of summer, where brands from across the bike industry unveil the fruits of their respective labours. In the past few weeks, we've seen six new groupsets from SRAM, Shimano, Campagnolo and TRP/Classified. We also know there's a lot more to come: I myself spotted eight new gravel bikes at Unbound, plus a gravel groupset, while my colleague Will spotted a further two at the Dauphiné, plus some wheels. Today's launch is none of the above.

    Last week, as the UCI announced a raft of changes to its technical regulations, it may have inadvertently increased the risk of discomfort, reduced control, and long-term injury for women and smaller men. That is the opinion of the International Bike Fitting Institute (IBFI) – the global body for bike fitting professionals – according to a statement made by its president, Lee Prescott, on Saturday.
