The Texas House today unanimously passed a proposed state law to prohibit non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) involving child sexual abuse and adult sexual assault. HB 748, which is titled “Trey’s Law” in honor of Trey Carlock, a victim of child sexual abuse who took his life, passed 149-0. The bill, which applies to civil settlements, would nullify any NDAs that keep victims of abuse or trafficking from disclosing their abuse, as previously reported by The Roys Report (TRR).

A former pastor at Thomas Road Baptist Church—the megachurch founded by Jerry Falwell, Sr., and associated with Liberty University—has been convicted of burglarizing and stalking a former parishioner. Chinese authorities are celebrating an increase in the nation’s persecution of religious minorities, according to International Christian Concern (ICC), an advocacy group for the persecuted church. On the social media platform WeChat, China’s Ministry of Public Security bragged of increased spending on technology and resources to suppress independent religious organizations, ICC stated. The group added that this crackdown has targeted the independent Christian house church movement.
