A Michigan church’s “heroic” security team prevented an active shooter from causing a “large-scale mass shooting” during the ministry’s Sunday service, local police announced during a press conference. Staff at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan, struck the gunmen with a vehicle and then fatally shot him before he could enter the church. Their actions averted a potential mass shooting, police said.

Arizona police have identified an ex-convict as a suspect in the religiously motivated killing of Arizona pastor William Schonemann. Adam Christopher Sheafe is in custody at the Coconino County Detention Center in Flagstaff on numerous charges, including second-degree burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident with an injury, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Nearly 90 children at a children’s church camp in southeast Iowa were removed by local authorities last week, according to the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities took protective custody of 88 children on June 12-13 who were attending the Shekinah Glory Camp in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the sheriff’s office announced in a press release.
