DiscussionThe principal findings of this study are that GDF-15 was the strongest predictor of HHF or all-cause mortality in patients at risk of HF or with HF but before first hospitalisation. Moreover, GDF-15 resulted in a more parsimonious prognostic model, with higher predictive accuracy and which would lead to greater clinical benefit across the entire risk spectrum.
