This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday, the Sunday before the season of Lent begins. On this day, many churches will tell the story of Jesus on a mountain with three trusted disciples. Suddenly, Jesus is glowing brightly and the disciples see visions of the Hebrew prophets Moses and Elijah. Jesus’ disciple Peter gets excited and starts running his mouth about building shrines. And then they all hear the voice of God telling Peter to shut his mouth.
