When Caitlin Russell joined the Air Force after high school, she didn’t have an end goal or career in mind. “Initially I was doing air traffic control, which is something I quickly realized was not a career for me,” Russell said. Instead, she discovered she had a passion for telling stories. Russell fell in love with the creative side of the Air Force when she joined the public affairs team, something that inspired her to grow her expertise.

For younger generations, who cannot recall a time when these devices weren’t ubiquitous, this struggle can be even worse. When Keegan Lee was only a sophomore in high school, she realized her reliance on social media apps was starting to become an addiction.

Alumni Wednesday, October 30th, 2024In August, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Kristin Acquavella ‘93 assumed command of the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapons Systems Support from Rear Admiral Matthew Ott ’04 (MBA), also a Carolina graduate. Ott previously took command of the role from another Tar Heel, Rear Admiral Ken Epps ’02 (MBA). “It’s kind of unusual,” Acquavella said.
