Victims who bought cars and vans with clocked mileage say they feel "mugged off" by the fraudsters who wound back a total of 2,000,000 miles off vehicle odometers. Ryan Regan, Thomas Hamilton and Darren Cradduck, all from Kent, were all given suspended sentences at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday. Shaun Thomas, 61, a bricklayer from Hastings, unknowingly bought a van from the group which had had nearly 100,000 miles taken off the odometer.

The father of a 22-year-old woman with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took her own life after buying poison online is calling for tighter restrictions on their availability. Hannah Aitken, 22, from Guildford in Surrey, bought the industrial strength chemical from Malaysia and had it shipped to the UK. Her father, Pete Aitken, says the high-strength poison should be a regulated poison and only sold to those with a licence.

A man has denied sexually assaulting a woman at a Kent train station. Amari Ward, 31, is accused of groping a woman's leg in a vehicle in Sittingbourne Train Station car park without her consent. He reportedly caught a train to London after the alleged incident and was arrested the next day. Mr Ward appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault. He will go on trial before a jury in February next year.

Drivers have spoken out about the cost of car crime as figures show more than one million motor vehicle theft offences have been recorded in England and Wales in a decade. One victim who was targeted by a masked gang described how "they tip-toed in and within 60 seconds the car was open, started and driving out". Home Office figures show there were more than 133,000 offences recorded in 2023-24, a 12% increase compared with 2018-19.
