CSF government celebrates Earth Day with cleanup drive

The City Government of San Fernando celebrated Earth Day 2025 with a cleanup drive in two villages on Tuesday, April 22. The cleanup in barangays Calulut and Malpitic was led by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO). Personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau Central Luzon, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the barangays joined the activity.
PhilHealth offers benefits for heat-related illnesses

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) said the public may avail of in-patient benefits for heat-related illnesses in accredited hospitals nationwide. The agency on Monday said that benefit packages are for heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat collapse, heat cramp and sunstroke at P12,675; heat fatigue and other effects of heat and light at P18,135; moderate to severe dehydration at P7,800; and varicella/chickenpox without complication, P7,800.
Comelec activates precinct finder for 2025 elections

Police log 7 drowning deaths in Central Luzon

The Central Luzon police recorded seven fatalities during the Holy Week due to drowning. The Police Regional Office III said that there were nine drowning incidents in the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales involving 12 individuals including the seven fatalities. Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, director of PRO-3, said the Holy Week observance in the region was marked by peace, solemnity, and strong community cooperation.
433,000 tourists visit Aurora on Holy Week

The Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) of Aurora on Sunday reported that over 433,000 tourists visited various sites in the province during Holy Week,The PTO said the figure was recorded from April 12 to 18, with 134,164 guests staying overnight and 299,030 as one-day visitors. Among Aurora’s eight municipalities, Dipaculao recorded the highest number of overnight guests with 64,012. Dipaculao was followed by Dingalan with 27,686 and Dilasag with 17,439.
Police: Maleldo 2025 observance peaceful

The Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPPO) said that the observance of Maleldo 2025 or Holy Week in the City of San Fernando and the province as a whole was peaceful and orderly. Colonel Jay Dimaandal, director of the PPPO, said 250 policemen helped in managing a crowd of over 8,000 and ensuring smooth traffic flow in activity sites on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. ADB to fund US$1.45-B Malolos-Clark rail project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund the 53.1-kilometer Malolos-Clark Railway Project or MCRP, the government announced last week. Worth US$1.45 billion, the MCRP is part of the 163-kilometer North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), a major infrastructure project of the government to provide safe, reliable, and eco-friendly transport connecting Luzon provinces to Metro Manila.
DOH records 288 road accidents on Holy Week

The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 288 road accidents across the country from Easter Sunday, April 13, to Maundy Thursday, April 17 this year. The agency said on Saturday that the incidents, recorded by 47 reporting sites, mostly involved motorcycles. The DOH said that the mishaps were 35 percent lower compared to the figure recorded in 2024.
DOE forecasts fuel price hike this week

The Department of Energy (DOE) has forecasted a price adjustment of fuel starting Tuesday, April 22. The looming price hike was based on the four-day trading in the international oil market. The agency said it expects a price increase on gasoline ranging from P0.90 to P1.30 per liter; diesel from P0.85 to P1.35 per liter; and kerosene from P0.90 to P1 per liter. The probable increase comes after a series of rollbacks during the Holy Week.
Comelec reminds poll bets: No campaign on Holy Week

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday reiterated its call to candidates in the May 2025 elections that campaigning during the Holy Week, specifically Maundy Thursday (April 17) and Good Friday (April 18) is prohibited. Under Resolution No. 10999, the Comelec said that all forms of election political activities during the two Holy Week holidays are banned. The agency added that violators could be charged and penalized under Sections 263 and 264 of the Omnibus Election Code.
