Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Police Regional Office III seized P1,741,360 worth of shabu in numerous operations in Central Luzon over the weekend. In Balanga City, the PDEA and Balanga City Police nabbed siblings Aying, 48; Rara, 37; Roly, 33; and Ali, 29; and their cohorts Ann and Ron-Ron. The authorities seized from the group 110 grams of shabu worth P748,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cataning on Sunday, May 18.

HEALTH authorities are investigating possible cases of glanders disease on Siquijor Island. Razel Nikka Hao, director of the Department of Health (DOH) Negros Island Region, said in a statement on Monday, May 19, 2025, that test results from suspected cases are still being validated. Glanders is a rare zoonotic disease caused by bacteria, primarily affecting horses, donkeys and mules. It can be transmitted to humans through direct contact with infected animals.
