WASHINGTON (7News) — The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an 80-foot Sitka spruce from the Wrangell District Region in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest, was delivered by two Alaska-based truck drivers Friday morning. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree lighting tradition. John Schank is from Fairbanks, AK, and Fred Austin is from North Pole, AK. The two have transported this giant spruce 4,000 miles on a three-week cross-country journey.
